The Sr.Manager will coordinate multiple work centers, establish a high quality continuous improvement culture, focus on problem solving in a dynamic work environment using tools such as 8D, implement value stream mapping and lean principles. The successful candidate will manage multiple complex priorities simultaneously with a "hands-on" style. The candidate must exemplify true leadership in developing his/her team and in general with building credibility throughout the organization. Responsibilities: Execution Ensure that production system delivers a quality product to our customers on-time, within Veeco's cost structure, in a safe environment Direct production activities of in-house manufacturing and coordination of outsource partners to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives Prioritize production schedule based on customer requirements, design releases and materials supply Lead daily "stand-up meetings" to ensure coordination between functions, completion of tasks, and resolution of issues Manage the flow of internal and coordinate the flow of external (from suppliers) components and assemblies to meet the needs of production schedules Support cross-functional activities for new product development Actively lead and participate in safety programs, deliver sustained improvements to safety policies, practices and procedures Management Develop organization - training, mentoring coaching and leading team Create and execute succession plan Supervise, organize, and motivate production employees, review performance of employees regularly to ensure improvement Institutionalize continuous improvement Track and present key performance indicators (KPI's), lessons learned, and corrective actions Planning Develop schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas Establish mid and long-range resource plan for Production. Monitor and perform within forecasted expenses and inventory targets Identify gaps in production process and make recommendations as required to sufficiently remedy issues Make budgetary recommendations for providing production workers with tools and equipment as needed Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field (Engineering preferred)with 8+ years of related experience in a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment. Experiencesupervising and managing a team are required. ERP experience required/SAP experience preferred.
