The Regions Direct/MRCC Operator will be the initial contact for all Regions Direct admissions and consultations. Regions Direct has been identified by senior leadership as a critical function in support of strategic hospital growth. MRCC Operators are required to provide prompt and courteous customer service at all times. The MRCC Operators must be able to communicate effectively with physicians from outside organizations to physicians at Regions Hospital to provide patient consultation and/or patient admission. MRCC Operators are responsible for triage of all Regions Direct patients to ensure a proper physician connection. MRCC Operators will be the initial point of contact for critical admissions such as Cath Lab Activations, Trauma Team Activations or Code Gray admission for stroke patients.
The MRCC Operator will receive patient information from ambulance services within the metro area, greater Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. This patient information will be communicated to the receiving hospital or medical facility. Operators will use multiple communication tools to communicate with different medical agencies. Operators will conduct themselves in a professional manner with a high emphasis on customer service. The MRCC Operator will provide quality assurance for the Regions Hospital EMS program and will identify areas for quality improvement. Will participate in research and quality assurance/improvement activities as requested. MRCC will have a vital role in the management of a Multiple Casualty Incident so the operators will need to gather information and pass that information on to participating agencies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Two years as a paramedic responding to 911 calls.
Current State of MN certification as a paramedic (or ability to obtain above before the end of probation).
Current ACLS certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to think clearly and act promptly in emergencies and under pressure.
Ability to learn and master the Regions Hospital EMS Guidelines. Ability to be attentive to multiple details at the same time.
Ability to understand, read and write the English language.
Ability to communicate effectively and speak English clearly and distinctly.
Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other medical professionals.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to handle confidential information and discretion.
Ability to be attentive to detail.
Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
Ability to adapt to change
Education: Completion of accredited Paramedic program preferred
Experience: Three years as a paramedic responding to 911 calls is preferred. Previous EMS communications experience or EMS teaching experience preferred. Current employment with an East Metro Advanced Life Support ambulance services desired. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Computer skills including keyboard proficiency, working knowledge of Word and Excel preferred. Knowledge of and/or experience with East Metro EMS system desired.
