Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:The MRCC Operator will receive patient information from ambulance services within the metro area, greater Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. This patient information will be communicated to the receiving hospital or medical facility. Operators will use multiple communication tools to communicate with different medical agencies. Operators will conduct themselves in a professional manner with a high emphasis on customer service. The MRCC Operator will provide quality assurance for the Regions Hospital EMS program and will identify areas for quality improvement. Will participate in research and quality assurance/improvement activities as requested. MRCC will have a vital role in the management of a Multiple Casualty Incident so the operators will need to gather information and pass that information on to participating agencies.




Two years as a paramedic responding to 911 calls.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

Current State of MN certification as a paramedic (or ability to obtain above before the end of probation). Current ACLS certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and master the Regions Hospital EMS Guidelines.

  • Available to work day, evening, and night shifts as well as weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to be attentive to multiple details at the same time.

  • Ability to think clearly and act promptly in emergencies and under pressure.

  • Ability to understand, read and write the English language.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and speak English clearly and distinctly.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other medical professionals.

  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.

Completion of accredited Paramedic program preferred


Three years as a paramedic responding to 911 calls is preferred. Previous EMS communications experience or EMS teaching experience preferred. Current employment with an East Metro Advanced Life Support ambulance services desired.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with East Metro EMS system desired.

  • Computer skills including keyboard proficiency, working knowledge of Word and Excel preferred.
