Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) is an operating division of the Metropolitan Council. Position Summary: The Assistant Manager, BU-Process, will be assigned by the Assistant General Manager of Operations to assist in the operations and maintenance of MCES' 8 wastewater treatment plants. As need dictates, this position will be assigned to one or more plants at any given time to assist plant management with managing plant staff in daily operations and maintenance activities and/or manage the planning and implementation of special projects. This role provides leadership, management, guidance, and technical support to the business unit to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations. It also ensures that processes, personnel, budgets, and infrastructure are maintained in accordance with Metropolitan Council policies and procedures. What you would do in this job: Supervises daily activities and operations of plant staff. Schedules and coordinates work activities, prioritizes tasks, and checks work for conformance to business unit standards. Manages and evaluates employee performance. Provides coaching and feedback as necessary. Conducts performance reviews and implements disciplinary actions in accordance with established procedures. Develops and oversees training of new hires; facilitates refresher training and training on new equipment. Reviews and updates training programs. Manages, implements, and enforces MCES Safety programs. Assists with the development of safety procedures and protocols in accordance with federal and state regulations and MCES policies and procedures. Leads and facilitates business unit project teams to ensure project completion. Coordinates construction activities to minimize disruptions to business unit operations. Serves as construction liaison. Provides input for written plans and specifications.
