Horton, Inc., a global airflow industry leader in reliability, service, and innovation, has an opening for an Prototype Machinist to work in our Roseville Corporate Headquarters.
Accountable for producing prototype parts for Engineering needs and supporting Tech Center Staff machining requirements. Performs all aspects of machining and prototyping tasks.
Responsible to produce Prototype parts to support Engineering projects
- Works from Engineering job requests and consults with Test Engineering Manager regarding priorities and job sequencing.
Accurately and quickly creates prototype parts to be used in new product design and development. Machines parts in aluminum, steel, and other materials, from castings, forgings, or raw blanks.
Operates manual / CNC vertical mill, manual / CNC lathe, drill press, bandsaw, bench grinder, and belt sander.
Performs measurement and inspection of parts when requested.
Provides feedback to Engineering on manufacturability issues related to prototype designs.
Writes, maintains, and documents CNC programs to control vertical mill and lathe, to produce machined prototype parts.
Ensures functionality of machining and fabrication equipment.
Schedules and/or performs preventive maintenance on shop equipment, to maintain full functionality.
Coordinates the ‘tool room’ function of the Tech Center in order to provide support for prototyping and testing operations.
Builds, inspects, qualifies, and maintains fixtures and tooling to support prototype and testing needs.
The position requires skills and knowledge consistent with that of two years of college or trade school or equivalent plus 2-3 years of technical or closely related experience. Good communications skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite along with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude are paramount. Familiarity with PLC’s, C programming, data acquisition and controls experience is helpful, but not required. Note: equivalent education equals 2 years of closely related experience for 1 year of education.
Must have legal authorization to work in the United States. Relocation allowance may be provided if the individual has all of the necessary qualifications.
