Connexus Energy is seeking an effective decision-maker and problem-solver to analyze, coordinate, and direct complex distribution outage restoration efforts and switching procedures with line crews and other personnel to provide safe and reliable outage restoration, system control, and monitoring 24/7. The individual in this position will also address and respond to customer calls after hours, monitor and respond to system and facility alarms, ensuring power system reliability and performance using the tools available in the Control Center such as SCADA, OMS, IVR, GIS & various maps and diagrams.This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is interested in working a non-traditional work schedule and have several days off on a regular basis. This position works a rotating schedule of 13.33-hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays; and offers a competitive wage and benefits package.
Key Responsibilities & Results:
Provide accurate information to crews and customers regarding the operation, maintenance and repair of Connexus Energy's distribution system.
Coordinate line crews in everyday situations and in major storms, utilizing the resources and information available, so that service is restored in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
Create and coordinate system switching orders and operational procedures for planned and emergency situations to ensure a safe working environment for the line crews.
Monitor the performance of the electrical distribution system, remotely control system devices, and respond to disturbances and alarms.
Map electrical facilities into the company’s electronic mapping systems.
Required Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:
Ideal candidate will possess the following:
Two or four year technical degree OR High School or General Equivalency Diploma with equivalent experience of electrical distribution systems and equipment
Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and equipment
Experience with electrical distribution systems, mapping, and construction techniques
Ability to remain calm and make decisions in stressful and/or complex situations
Ability to clearly communicate and hear and understand communications over the telephone and radio
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications and computer systems typically found in a utility control room environment such as OMS, SCADA, IVR, and GIS
Ability to multitask and work both independently and in groups
Ability to map facilities in the ESRI/ArcFM GIS (or equivalent)
Ability to work fully rotating 24/7 schedule made up of 13.33-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
