Dow Chemical Plant Process Control Coordinator in Minneapolis, Minnesota
TheDow Chemical Companyhas an exciting opportunity for aPlant Process Control CoordinatorinMinneapolis, Minnesota. The purpose of this role is to apply plant knowledge and experience in addition to Process Control skills to increase plant Asset Utilization and eliminate unplanned events.
Apply plant and Process Control knowledge and experience to optimize plant operation and maintain Process Control related Operating Discipline. Identify deficiencies and value creating opportunities to plant control code and operator interface, leveraging best practices and applying Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques. Utilize Global Management Of Change (MOC) to implement appropriate changes.
•Utilize troubleshooting techniques to identify the root cause of problem areas in the AC&O (Advanced Control & Optimization) and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) software suite. Escalates the problem to Dow Process Automation support contacts, the business AC&O contacts, or IS contacts when appropriate.
•Ensure reliable, optimized plant operation by successfully managing and implementing Process Control related changes, utilizing, Process Control Work Process Discipline, Small Project Process (SPP), approved functional tools and Global MOC process.
•Utilize troubleshooting techniques to identify root cause of problem areas in Process Control code, Operator Interface or hardware and effectively resolve these problems with stakeholders input (resolution of exception reports, elements in manual, and reduction of alarms / unplanned events).
•Ensure Process Control Operating Discipline is maintained and updated in the Process Control Strategy Description and code.
•Works with the SPC Implementation role to ensure process control changes are aligned with plant SPC strategy.
•Utilize available techniques and tools such as SPC for optimizing plant Process Control system and reduction / prevention of unplanned events.
•Utilize existing or develop Process Control and plant performance indicators / money meters to monitor effectiveness of plant operation and the Process Control system.
•Perform Digital Control System loads utilizing defined procedures for both simulation and production environments.
•Receive knowledge transfer from Project Development role prior to and during initial Start Up of new equipment.
•Perform training and coaching for changes as required and assist in training efforts requested by Plant Operations.
•Link to Process Control Engineering / Process Information functions to update and implement control technology / process information improvements and capitalize on current best practices (Most Effective Technology and Work Process Discipline).
•Coordinate Process Information system maintenance with Process Information and Information Services support groups.
•Coordinate Process Control system maintenance with Process Control field support group and conduct audits for Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Process Control standards compliance.
•Work with plant Production Leader and Technology Leader to define appropriate plant / business rules for on-shift Process Control and process information work.
•Provide training and coaching for Process Control Focal Points and coordinate Focal Point efforts.

3 or more years of experience with discrete manufacturing and experience with controller programming and other process automation is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills are required.
Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
- Experience with coding controller programs.
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
Associate's degree in a technical field OR 4 years military experience preferred.
