Job Description The Innovation Center Assistant Lead owns ensuring the day-to-day operations in the IC are executed flawlessly either personally or through helping to direct, and support, other team members. This will be done by working closely with Food Scientists and Engineers in the kitchen, lab, and innovation center in downtown Minneapolis. This work supports the development and execution of new product innovation, product and process improvements, quality, and food safety. In addition, they are to provide support to the IC Lead as it pertains to planning, directing and coordinating team members, vendors, and work to ensure successful operation of the Innovation Center. The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following: Team Member Leadership * Partner with IC Lead to ensure proper staffing is maintained, including interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new IC team members * Support IC Lead by identifying training and skill building opportunities of technicians IC Operations Leadership * Organize ingredients, equipment, and tools for processing and cleaning * Calibrate analytical equipment * Set-up equipment * Run equipment * Troubleshoot equipment when issues arise * Clean equipment and workspaces * Take out garbage and recyclables * Restock ingredients and supplies * Test products and packaging with analytical equipment * Support quality standards and inventory accuracy * Support management, scheduling, and execution of sales samples * Support management of vendors for ongoing IC and lab operations * Help to enable continuous improvement mindset in IC by identifying and helping to implement standardized processes * Support evaluation of new equipment and techniques with a focus on safety Safety and Quality Leadership * Adhere to food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. USDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA) * Manage adherence to prescribed procedures to ensure first pass quality meets or exceeds planned goals. * Ensure close partnership with FSQ including communicating and resolving all quality and production issues with appropriate team members * Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
