MCE is currently recruiting for a Grinder on first shift, Monday-Thursday 6:30 AM-5:00 PM. This is a full time, direct hire position. SUMMARY As a Grinder, you will performs complex setups and operations of all department equipment with little to no supervision, using new and existing methods, processes and procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Grind, sand, clean or polish parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces to specifications and for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools. Select files or other abrasives according to materials, sizes and shapes of parts, amount of material to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes. Trim, scrape, or deburr parts using chisels, scrapers and other hand tools and equipment. Verify quality of finished parts by inspecting them. Maintains a safe, clean organized work area. Assures and maintains a consistent, acceptable level of individual quality and performance. May be required to work in other departments or on other shifts, as assigned by lead. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School diploma or GED Three (3) years of grinding experience in a manufacturing environment or demonstrated skill equivalency. JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Ability to set up and operate all equipment in the department Team oriented Ability to identify problems and offer solutions Organized Effective communicator Analytical COMPETENCY TRAINING REQUIREMENTS AS9100 Quality System 80 hours OJT or equivalent Right to Know PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly required to stand, reach, bend and move throughout the facility. Lift up to 50 pounds without the assistance of a crane. Must be able to safely work in and around workstation, following required safety procedures, and where applicable, use of PPE. PPE Required to wear safety glasses throughout the manufacturing facility as well as hearing protection in designated areas. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work performed in a shop environment. Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable. May work at different workstations or areas as needed. Controlled environment with an average temperature between 65 and 75 degrees.
