JOB SUMMARY:
A Sr. Fabrication Technician is responsible for supporting the Industrial Design Studio in all aspects of fabrication and prototype building. Focused on portions of and creating full chassis for clay armatures, complete presentation level hard model builds up to full show concept vehicles. Highly skilled in a wide range of woodworking and metalworking including CAD defined tube bending, machining, welding and cutting equipment (MIG/TIG/Plasma cutting and CNC milling preferred but not essencial.)
Creation of highly accurate models utilizing CAD data is a must along with coordinating the project with the Lead Industrial Designer and Management team. The process will be self-directed with a high level of accuracy, execution, speed and efficiency. They may also be responsible for creating cast components utilizing a variety of processes such as plaster and fiberglass. This person must be adaptable to change and refinement in programs along with a strong attention to detail and eye for exceptional execution.
Responsible for organizing and providing housekeeping duties to shop area and display room.
A Sr. Fabrication Technician is responsible for:
Armature building
Casting processes
Creating templates
Use of shop equipment
Interpret drawings
Assembly and disassembly of vehicles
Maintains knowledge of prototype build processes, new processes and equipment
Assists in training of less senior fabricators.
Prioritizes and organizes work of others occasionally
Interpret sketches/renderings
Solves design problems as they arise
Lead programs singularly and with a team
Coordinate projects with Industrial Designers
Achieve a high level of accuracy
Understands and executes process from start to finish
Excellent communication skills
Must have a good knowledge of plastics, paints, and adhesives
Must be a self-starter and complete projects without continual supervision
Maintains routine housekeeping practices of the shop; ensuring all OSHA requirements are being met.
Adheres to approved project budget and schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Building structural armatures for clay and hard models to accurate drawing specs.
Building hard models and concept vehicles to a presentation level of A surface refinement with high accuracy
Lead a team of sculptors to support hard model builds
Working in the clay studio when needed
Coordinate the project with the Industrial Design Project Management team
Self-directed process with a high level of execution, accuracy, speed and efficiency.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:
High School Diploma required
AS/BA or equivalent experience in Pattern Making, Machine Tool Technology, or Industrial Technology a plus
10+ Years’ experience
Powersports or Automotive experience a plus
Mechanical knowledge required
Good team player
Strong leadership skills
Flexibility with a changing environment
CNC knowledge would bea plus but not necessary.
