Maintenance Superintendent, Oilseeds- Mankato, MN

This is an exempt level position

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Superintendent has overall responsibility for coordinating all functions of our maintenance program. These functions include, but are not limited to, maintenance repair, PM, PdM, warehousing, lubrication, purchasing, managing records, writing procedures, supervising and monitoring the responsibilities and performance of the maintenance supervisor and maintenance employees.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule all maintenance, PM, PdM, and lubrication work.

  • Coordinating the employee work assignments with the Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Monitor employee’s work to confirm safe work practices, quality, and efficiency.

  • Review post job information with the maintenance supervisor and employees, to log corrective action taken, materials used, the current condition of the equipment, and safety issues or other concerns encountered during the performance of the task.

  • Mentor employees to improve maintenance skills, safe behaviors, quality, and efficiency.

  • Mentor and train the Maintenance Supervisor on the skills that the Supervisor needs to learn.

  • Implement and support Maintenance & Reliability practices and programs to improve equipment reliability, improve efficiencies, reduce maintenance costs, and maximize operational quality and profits.

  • Implement and support warehousing storage and inventory practices to insure critical parts are available, while controlling and preventing excess spare part and consumable inventory.

  • Implement and support lubrication storage, testing, handling, and usage practices.

  • Analyze, identify and replace inefficient or inadequately designed systems, equipment, or materials with reliable, cost effective alternatives.

  • Establish efficient employee work schedules.

  • Enforce rules and procedures to maintain a safe, compliant, and respectful employee workforce.

  • Develop Safe Operating procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) to drive safe and efficient work practices.

  • Purchasing of materials, tools, and equipment.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate courteously with fellow employees, vendors, and contractors.

  • Ability to install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and equipment.

  • Ability to use and train employees on the use of electronic predictive and preventive maintenance tools and software.

  • Ability to train and mentor employees on improving their mechanical skills and teach them safe work practices.

  • Ability to use computers and various types of software for purchasing, shipping & receiving, inventory control, scheduling, recordkeeping, and communication.

  • Ability to research problems and understand diagrams, and written and oral instructions.

  • Have a thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.

  • The desired candidate will have a minimum education of a high school degree or GED, with a minimum of 5 years work experience in a related mechanical field, or a 4 year degree in engineering.
