Industrial Fabrication Services Welder in Lake Crystal, Minnesota

Industrial Fabrication Services (IFS) in Lake Crystal, Minnesota is a custom metal fabrication facility that builds metal components for many bulk material-handling industries. Currently IFS employs about 80 people in a 75,000 square foot facility. IFS is located 12 miles southwest of Mankato, Minnesota, just off Highway 60, in the Lake Crystal Industrial Park. From this location IFS ships products throughout the continental USA, Canada, Mexico, and worldwide. IFS works primarily with general contractors, custom equipment manufacturers, mining companies, agricultural processors, and power generation facilities. POSITION SUMMARY: Although the Essential Functions and Qualifications of this job description apply mostly towards experienced Welders, we are also looking entry level Welders to join our team. You will operate appropriate equipment to build metal components for many bulk material-handling industries. Must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment and follow all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures 2. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements 3. Set up components for welding according to specifications 4. Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded 5. Align components using tape measure, rulers etc. and clamp pieces 6. Weld components in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) 7. Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps 8. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws 9.
