Site Overview: Hibbing Taconite Company (HTC) is located in the center of Minnesota s Mesabi Iron Range near the cities of Hibbing and Chisholm. HTC is owned by Mittal Steel (62.3%), U.S. Steel (14.7%) and Cliffs Mining Company (23%). Cliffs Mining Company is also the managing agent. Plant capacity is rated at 8.0 million tons of iron ore pellets annually. Job Overview: Monitor and dispatch equipment, operators, and material to meet the mine plan. Job Responsibilities: Ensure conformance with Cliff s requirements for safety, ethics, accountability, and environmental requirements through commitment to the Cliffs Core Values. Ensure employee compliance to corporate, property and departmental policies and standard work procedures, and the collective bargaining agreement. Plan and prioritize work assignments from the weekly work order packet on a daily basis by coordinating and communicating with operations, maintenance, and scheduling personnel. Communicate work assignments to employees. Supervise, facilitate, and motivate employees to safely and efficiently execute and complete their work assignments Monitor and inspect the quality of completed work assignments. Establish high performance standards for the employees, promote and encourage the achievement of these standards, provide feedback to employees on their progress, and implement disciplinary measures if necessary. Update scheduling personnel on daily and weekly carry-over work. Coordinate and facilitate departmental training. Required Skills: Skilled with P.C. s; utilizing Microsoft Word processing, spreadsheets, and Outlook. Ability to learn other mine specific software Must have strong verbal, written, and persuasive communication skills. The ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, management, vendors and/or contractors.
