POSITION SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Superintendent, will have the responsibility for meeting objectives related to Safety, Quality, Production Key Performance Indicators, employee safety & retention, and enforcement of company policy. This position will also lead and support continuous improvement programs and the development of individuals within their organization.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Responsible for all aspects of product manufacturing

  2. Develop and/or maintain the programs necessary to ensure all employees are properly trained in order to meet company objectives relating to human safety, product quality and food safety, human relations and professional development

  3. Directly supervises and coordinates salaried supervisor roles including goal setting, evaluating performance, hiring and terminating

  4. Supports and implements employee relations programs with the objective of improving employee engagement and morale

  5. Working with Processing Managers, this position will lead and participate in plant and corporate continuous improvement programs and teams

  6. Assures and enforce production activities are in compliance with company policies and procedures to include good manufacturing practices (GMPs) environmental, quality control standards and safety compliance

  7. Ensures a safe work environment is maintained

  8. Working with Processing Managers, this position will schedules staff and assigns duties to meet production needs

  9. Responds quickly to unexpected interruptions in the production process

  10. Interpret and react as necessary to hourly, daily, weekly monthly reports (RedZone, financial performance, retention, safety dashboards, etc.),

  11. Adhere to department and plant budgets

  12. Develops and implements cost-effective manufacturing processes through process improvements or capital ideas

  13. Cooperates and work with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exist at all times

  14. Keeps management informed on any operational, safety, quality or personnel issues

  15. Direct interaction with regulatory inspectors.

  16. Ensures compliance with Federal, State and local laws, and regulations associated with food processing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Food Sciences, and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • 3-5 years of food processing or consumer packaged goods and supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education, and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job

  • Experience with continuous manufacturing processes

  • Experience working collaboratively with all levels of employees

  • Experience development and implementing a positive employee relations process

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to be on call and work extended or after hours as needed
