POSITION SUMMARY :
The main purpose of this leadership position is to work with the maintenance team to repair, improve performance and reliability of the assets within the facility. This person should provide leadership in implementing new initiatives directed toward continuous improvement and cost reduction keeping people and food safety in mind at all times. This position will also identify and lead maintenance and profit improvement type capital projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision of maintenance crew.
Production support in the Production / Processing areas.
Creates work orders and PMs.
Responsible for managing the installation of new equipment.
Troubleshoots problems with equipment.
Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operations.
Develops and implements cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods through capital and non-capital projects.
Develops and manages capital projects to within specified budget and time frames.
Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.
Sets up and implements new programs and reports to assist management.
Keeps accurate and up-to-date records (I.E. timecards, downtime records, absentee records, etc.)
Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.
Keeps manager informed on operating and/or employee problems which may require their attention or knowledge.
Provides a safe work environment for employees.
Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Two years of mechanical and electrical maintenance and supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a commensurate level of experience in a food processing environment.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or Industrial Engineering preferred job such as those listed above.
Five years of experience in manufacturing engineering preferred.
Basic understanding of boiler and ammonia refrigeration preferred.
Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, MS Project
Knowledge of Statistics/SPC and Simulation is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of cost accounting, gathering production information, and production scheduling.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication.
Ability to learn computerized maintenance management system.
Knowledge of basic mechanics, welding, electrical, fabrication, preventative maintenance, plant operations and government safety regulations.
Able to supervise department personnel in a fair and consistent manner.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations. Ability to respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels of the organization
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, ratios.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
