Woodworkers set up, operate, and tend all types of woodworking machines such as ripsaws, chop saws, planers, sanders, trim saws, re-saws, coping and end work machines, drilling and boring machines, etc. Operators set up equipment, cut and shape the wood parts, and verify dimensions using templates, calipers, and rulers. Lastly, operators stack/package product for shipping. Other general duties/requirements: Complete general machine maintenance Keep the work area, machinery and tools neat and clean and in proper order. Follow all safety procedures and notify management of potential safety issues. Follow standard operating procedures and seek potential procedural improvements. Assist in other work areas when needed. Meet or exceed production performance standards. Ensure that products meet customer and industry standards and project specifications, making adjustments as necessary to ensure quality. Keep complete, accurate, legible documentation. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; stand, sit, bend, and/or lift for extended time periods. Physical Environment: may encounter noise, dust, and heavy items. As a result, must regularly wear hearing protection devices, safety glasses, and steel toed safety shoes. Buildings are heated in winter and not air-conditioned in summer.
