This role will directly oversee Eden Prairie Operations Engineering and Quality Assurance activities including supervision and direction to Operations Engineers, and Quality Engineers. This position owns strategic transformation of manufacturing engineering, program leadership with external vendors on turn key initiative, and quality compliance to ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100. Additional responsibilities include support of existing products, and ensuring effective transition of new products into production.

Location: Eden Prairie, MN

  • Lead the operations and quality engineers through the implementation of turn key engineering activities for 3D printer assemblies / subassemblies both locally and overseas:

  • Contributes to the selection and development of sub-contractors to reduce cost, improve quality, effectively transfer assembly lines, subassemblies and mechanical / electro-mechanical parts

  • Defines and ensures the compliance to quality standards through FAI and FSI processes

  • Supports the development of a Statement of Work (SOW) for Turn Key suppliers

  • Ensures a robust integration and change management process is in place

  • Manage and supervise all Eden Prairie Operations engineers and technicians

  • Lead the Eden Prairie Quality System Administration:

  • Drive all Quality Assurance activities and initiatives to ensure company goals and objectives are met utilizing six sigma and lean methodologies, to improve product quality, productivity, process efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

  • Lead the Product Quality Team with driving Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action, and Preventative Action activities between Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply Chain.

  • Will lead efforts for continuous improvement Lead development efforts in the Quality Management System (QMS) for AS9100 certification and continual improvement to the company’s ISO 9001:2015 Certified Quality Management System

  • Supervise the quality planning and management of new products into manufacturing per the Product Life Cycle Management process (PLCM) and continuation engineering of all production released products

  • Develop and manage an internal audit process and provide performance metrics of the QMS to management for review.

  • Manage and supervise all QA staff.

  • Responsible for assurance of quality supply through the continuous support of production lines and new products throughout Eden Prairie Operations:

  • Ensures Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Design For Assembly (DFA), Design For Manufacturability (DFM) principles are followed

  • Ensures the complete Product File along with Bill of Material (BOM) structure, jigs and tools, and assembly drawings are developed for new 3D printer products


  • BS degree in an engineering discipline; mechanical, industrial, or chemical

  • 8+ years of experience working in an operations engineering environment

  • 4+ years of experience in quality management

  • Six sigma black belt including statistical analysis, quantitative and analytical problem-solving ability

  • 6+ years of demonstrated experience in transforming assembly to contract manufacturing, initiating design(s) for contract manufacturing transitions, etc.

  • Proven experience working in global, cross functional teams

  • Quality management experience in an ISO 9001:2015 and/or AS9100 environment including familiarity with international quality standards, quality auditing and management of a QMS.

  • 10% Travel


  • Master’s degree in Engineering and/or Business

  • 2+ years of experience in managing Engineering teams

  • 2 years of experience in mechanical design using Solidworks and Product Data Management tools (PDM/EDM) – experience with Agile is an advantage

  • 2 years of experience in plastic filament extrusions

  • Experience in leading a Design for Excellence (DFX) process

  • ASQ Certification preferred.
