Job Description

Quality Inspector (6-month contract) $20-24/hr. (DOE)

Bloomington, MN

Primary Objective: Maintains quality standards through the inspection of product. This may be performed throughout the value stream including incoming, in-process, or outbound depending on the business need.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts visual and measurement inspection of materials, components, and assemblies using tools and methods appropriate to the product specifications. Approves, rejects, or holds product depending on results.

  • Documents and maintains inspection results within the enterprise system. Communicates results to stakeholders in a timely and concise manner.

  • Maintains condition of measurement and test equipment by following operating instructions and initiating repairs when indicated.

  • Participates in problem solving efforts by providing technical skills and knowledge to the team.

  • Prepares and communicates routine and/or specialized reports based upon data analysis and organizational requirements.

  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; and by complying with regulatory and statutory regulations.

Experience:

  • Proficient in the reading and comprehension of engineering drawings and solid models including industry notation of specifications.

  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD &T) per ANSI Y14.5m

  • Experience with a variety of hand measurement tools and surface plate inspection methods

  • Experience with hardness test methods and equipment (e.g. Rockwell)

  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills. Ability to handle multiple assignments at any given time.

  • Utilizes evidence-based judgment in solving problems and making recommendations to stakeholders.

  • May need to work overtime, as needed.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Requires minimal supervision & may receive general direction from multiple personnel within the department.

  • Operating of bridge or portable CMM (Zeiss and/or Faro experience a plus but not required)

  • DCC programming

  • High school diploma and 1 year post high school education and 5 years of combined quality inspection with administrative experience; OR, High school diploma and 7 years of combined quality inspection with administrative experience.
