  • Under general direction, operates the Minnesota Power Transmission, Distribution, Generation and MP Control Area Systems to maintain reliable, secure electrical energy systems, to meet customer needs and economic requirements, and to coordinate operations with interconnected systems.

  • Directs and coordinates activities with service dispatch function.


  • Associate's degree or higher in computer technology, electricity or equivalent


  • Two years or more of related utility experience.

  • ​Related experience includes power marketing, power systems operations, electrical fundamentals, or energy account.

  • Experience in Control Area Operations is desirable


  • Requires interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships inside and outside the Company.

  • Must possess good computer skills.

  • This position requires rotating shifts and working weekends.

  • Must successfully complete the System Operator/Power Dispatcher II testing prior to being considered for an interview. Qualified applicants will be invited to test for a date that is to be determined.

  • Applicants who have documentation of successful completion of the System Operator/Power Dispatcher II within the last 5 years will not be required to retest.

  • Must pass color perception testing.

  • Must obtain and maintain NERC System Operator certification.

  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
