Kristen Ludgate, senior vice president of Human Resources at 3MThis position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.The Impact Youll Make in this RoleYou will manage the operations and supply chain functions for the Cottage Grove Incinerator and Wastewater Treatment Operations ensuring a safe and economically run facility. The factory operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, in a dynamic and rewarding environment. You will be responsible for all aspects of operations with priorities in EHSandR, staffing, and efficiency. You will achieve operational excellence with transformational continuous improvements in the day-to-day Incinerator and Wastewater Treatment operations, systemic design, and the application of lean six sigma principles. You will also improve consistency across all policies and procedures within the production and supply chain departments.As a Manufacturing Operations Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:Owning Operations and Supply Chain Management responsibility of all activities of the Incinerator and Wastewater Treatment areas. Accountable for driving transformational continuous improvement in EHSR, operational and plant engineering efficiencies and supply chain. Coordinates operating activities so that destruction is handled on schedule and within quality and compliance standards.Coordinating lean initiatives and operational improvements throughout the Incinerator and Wastewater Treatment operations. Continuously enforcing and improving daily tier processes, daily accountability boards, standard work, visual controls and coaching. Encouraging area-wide participation in continuous improvement suggestion activities. Actively participating in relevant corporate lean programs/initiatives.Developing and mentoring all levels of the Supply Chain and Operations groups. Driving consistency and accountability in regard to all policies, procedures and expectations throughout the organization. Driving operator engagement throughout the area and encouraging problem solving through all levels of the site organization to determining best solutions for complex problems.Ensuring effective labor relations with the Operating Engineers labor union at Cottage Grove.Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.Ten (10) years manufacturing/production experiencein a private, public, government, or military environmentFive (5) years manufacturing/engineering management experienceAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Knowledge and understanding of high temperature incineration and/or wastewater treatment operationsKnowledge and experience working with governmental and regulatory agenciesExperience leading/managing in a union environmentLean Six Sigma Black Belt experienceUnderstanding and application of Shingo principles or principle-based leadershipA leadership skill set including transformational leader
