Quality Control Technician Company: Knife River Materials - Northern Minn. Division Department: Construction Location: Bemidji, MN Hiring Manager: Trisha A Newland Closing Date: 06/15/2019 at 11:59pm CDT Job Type: Full-Time - Seasonal Job Summary: QC Aggregate- JOB SUMMARY Responsible to safely collect samples of crushed stone, aggregate, ashalt or gravel and test for conformance to specifications. Assist with adjustments to mix designs at job sites. Represents KRC Quality specifications to our customers. Conduct all MNDOT testing and perform quality assurance testing with our customers. DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and maintain customer relations Meet with customers to investigate quality material issues and resolution Visit job sites to maintain customer relations and project quality and troubleshoot quality concerns Collect material samples, identify material, and compile statistical data on test results. Examine and evaluate data - determine material quality in relation to specifications Maintain all required MNDOT and ACI certifications and maintain close relationships with MNDOT personnel and outside testing agencies Conduct finished and in-process inspections Safely and properly perform laboratory tests on variety of materials (Aggregate and/or Concrete and/or Asphalt). Perform arithmetic operations and record findings and needed actions. Maintain lab, equipment and vehicle Perform daily housekeeping Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations .and. act courteous/respectful of others. Communicate test results to appropriate stakeholders. Ensure work activities comply with OSHA, EPA, safety and environmental regulations. Good housekeeping skills. Travel is required. Performs other duties as assigned. QC Asphalt- JOB SUMMARY Responsible to safely collect samples of crushed stone, aggregate, sand or gravel and test for conformance to specifications. DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES Safely and properly perform laboratory tests on variety of materials (Aggregate and/or Asphalt). Collect material samples, identify material, and compile statistical data on test results. Perform necessary tests (i.e., gradations, incinerations, void tests, %crushed, etc.) Examine and evaluate data - determine material quality in relation to specifications Present alternative actions in relation to the evaluation. Perform arithmetic operations and report findings and needed actions. Maintain lab and equipment Perform daily housekeeping Conduct finished and in-process inspections Perform trial batches Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations .and. act courteous/respectful of others. Communicate test results to appropriate stakeholders. Ensure work activities comply with OSHA, EPA, safety and environmental regulations. Good housekeeping skills. Travel is required. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent Aggregate and/or asphalt testing experience and certification preferred Ability to provide and maintain proper certifications, licensure and acceptable driving record.
