The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of previous industry leadership experience, or a bachelor’s degree. This is a great opportunity for new college graduates as well as candidates with leadership experience looking to gain experience in advanced manufacturing.
Team Leads in the plant environment provide feedback, coaching, training, and conflict resolution support to manufacturing employees, and conduct audits of processes and quality. Identifies process constraints and incorporates appropriate decision making and problem-solving techniques. Responsibilities also include providing the shift supervisor with relevant performance feedback on production employees in addition to providing daily work direction and leadership to assigned team of production associates.
Partner with the Value Stream Supervisor and others to ensure production flow is meeting operational standards.
Help to identify and resolve issues with operations and escalate as needed.
Ensure the continuous flow of production to meet planned output, while following operational standards (safety, quality, delivery, cost, maintenance), and identify issues when standards are not able to be achieved.
Engage the production team in problem resolution and understand when to escalate issues to support teams through partnering with Value Stream Supervisor as appropriate.
Provide coaching, mentoring and facilitate training to develop production employees within the department (Manufacturing Value Stream).
Participate in the development of standard work documentation and help to ensure production employees understand and are following the standards.
Contribute to projects within department working as a member of cross-functional teams.
Demonstrate leadership in the areas of communication, conflict resolution, process constraint identification and problem solving.
Help to facilitate and participate in daily meetings with teams of production employees.
Help maintain visual metrics boards for the department to help drive deliverables and continuous improvement in accordance with the Andersen Management System.
Lead by example through demonstrating safety as a top priority.
Provides an expert level of knowledge of all safety guidelines and helps drive compliance within these guidelines.
Learn to lead utilizing lean manufacturing tools (Andersen Management System).
Knowledge of employee capabilities and training within assigned cost center/value stream.
Coordinates movement of employees according to business needs; through the development and maintaining of the cross-training matrix.
Ideal candidates must possess one of the following:
Prior manufacturing leadership experience or
A 4-year college degree in business or a related field or
Proven leadership experience
Willingness to learn product, process and equipment
Desire to learn and utilize lean manufacturing tools
Knowledge of Microsoft Office systems
Ability to lead, train, coach and motivate an average size team of 10-20 people
Desire to problem solve, make sound decisions and delegate work appropriately
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Significant focus on continuous improvement
Proven effectiveness working with others
Flexibility with shifts and job duties
Ability to work in employee led groups
Successful completion of the Value Stream Team Lead Development program upon hire
